LokIron is the easy way to remodel an existing staircase OR build a new staircase with hollow iron balusters

No Messy Glue • Easy • Strong • Fast Installation • No Special Tools

LokIron, is a patent pending method for installing hollow iron balusters that is strong, fast, and easy—requiring no special tools. With the provided self-tapping screws and the LokIron™ Anchor Post, all you have to do is install the anchor post on your baluster mark using a drill, and square bits. LokIron™ is designed to be used with industry standard aluminum or light-weight shoes.

LokIron™ was born from the need to find a method for installing hollow iron balusters without the cost and mess of using epoxy. Hollow iron balusters have quickly become the most popular iron products in the industry but installations using epoxy require extra time for the epoxy to setup and require several installation steps that are time consuming, expensive, and can be messy.

Designed to Work with Most Manufacturers LokIron™ works with name brand hollow stair balusters including LJ Smith™, House of Forgings®, Universal®, WM Coffman®, Crown Heritage®, Creative Stair Parts®, and many more. The aluminum shoe that is commonly installed at the base of the baluster for both decorative and functional reasons will easily fit over the LokIron™ base flange. The after paint LokIron™ product is available for 1/2" (12mm) baluster installations. The before paint LokIron product is available for 5/8" (which also fits 9/16" or 14mm), and 3/4" (19mm) hollow iron balusters. LokIron™ is designed to work on flat surfaces such as treads and balconies as well as knee walls.

LokIron™ is Strong – Manufactured with leading edge polymers, LokIron™ has been designed to withstand pulling, pushing, and the kicking that stair balusters must endure. In extensive trials we found the balusters fail before the LokIron™ Anchor Post fails.

Lokiron is versatile for any installation type

How to choose the LokIron installation method that describes your project

Remodel Project

If your project is a Remodel then please follow these instructions:

Option 1: If your Remodel Project will re-use the existing Handrail and leave it in place, and only remove the Balusters, follow the Remodel Instructions.

Option 2: If your Remodel Project involves replacing the Baluster and replacing the Handrail, then follow the instructions for New Construction. However, you may have a hole where a Baluster has previously been installed.

New Construction Project

If your project is a New Construction then please follow these instructions:

Option 1: If you plan to install the Handrail for your new stair project after you install your Balusters (we recommend this method), then follow the New Construction instructions.

Option 2: If you plan to install your Balusters after you put your Handrail in, and install the handrail to the Newels, then follow the Remodel Instructions. However, you will not have a hole where the baluster was previously installed in the Tread or balcony floor to deal with.
