New Construction Installation Method
If your project is a New Construction then please follow these instructions:
Option 1: If you plan to install the Handrail for your new stair project after you install your Balusters (we recommend this method), then follow these New Construction instructions.
Option 2: If you plan to install your Balusters after you put your Handrail in, and install the handrail to the Newels, then follow the Remodel Instructions. However, you will not have a hole where the baluster was previously installed in the Tread or balcony floor to deal with.
New Installation Steps:
- Start with the LokIron Anchor Posts and Long Screws.
- Put the Long Screw through the center hole of the post.
- Install the LokIron Anchor Post into the wood on your Baluster mark.
- Make sure the LokIron Anchor post base stays square with your Baluster line.
- If you are installing on steps or balconies install the two short screws into opposite non-adjacent screw holes.
- Put the shoes over the LokIron Anchor Post.
- Put the Hollow Baluster over the Anchor Post and into the shoe.
- Tap the top of the Baluster onto the LokIron Anchor Post and make sure it seats fully onto the base.
- Tighten the Baluster Shoes onto the Baluster.
- LokIron is strong and the Balusters will stand without support.
- Now put the Handrail on top of the Balusters and attach the Handrail to the Newel Posts.
- If you are installing on a Knee Wall, the installation is similar to a flat surface installation, but there are five screws—one long and four short screws.
- Make sure the LokIron Anchor Post is square and that you install all four short screws.
It is not required to use the Long Screws for a New Installation, but is preferred. If the installer plans to install the Handrail after the Balusters, then use Long Screws. If the Handrail is installed first, before installing the Balusters, then follow the Remodel Method.
